Worship in the Week
Wednesday Lunchtime Communion | Monday Evenings | Wednesday Evenings
Daily Prayers
On weekdays, usually at 8.00am, 1.15pm and 6.00pm *
These are short periods of worship and prayer, to which all are welcome. Lasting approximately 15 minutes, the prayer times are informal and open. They respond to the requests left in the building each day and week, as well as offering prayers for wider concerns throughout the world.
They change in style each month; contributions are always welcome.
* Exceptions:
The Community @ share in other weekday activities, including the Lunchtime Communion Service, Food for Thought, and Radical Faith Lectures, rather than conduct their own additional sessions. See below for all other weekday services.
These sessions are led and organised by The Community @ Carrs Lane. Click through to
The Community @ section to find out more about the project, and the worship produced.
Lunchtime Communion Service
Wednesday at 1.15pm
This informal service takes place in the 'Lounge' and lasts for about 30 minutes.
You are welcome to eat your lunch before or after worship; hot drinks are provided afterwards. A simple, shared celebration of Communion is at the heart of the service, but time is given to pray for individuals who have asked to be remembered in prayers at Carrs Lane; there is also an opportunity for ‘open prayer’.
Evening Activities
Various Monday and Wednesday evening activities can be seen below. Each starts at 7.30pm, and offers the opportunity to share in worship. Please look through and get involved with any groups or activities which inspire you.
Monday Evening Worship
Food4Thought
Second and Fourth Monday of the month during term
This congregation for young adults (20's and 30's) is run in conjunction with Aston University Free Church Chaplaincy. It meets in the Martin Luther King Centre in Aston University for a short, informal service at 7.30pm (although punctuality has not been a redeeming feature of this group!).
Worship lasts for no more than half-an-hour and draws a variety of students, volunteers and others: all are welcome, whatever their circumstances.
Worship is followed by a shared meal, for which no charge is made: sometimes we eat out, sometimes food is shared on the premises. Other social events enliven the shared life of this group.
Wednesday Evening Worship
Wednesdays offer an opportunity to pray and offer devotions halfway through the week. With services each Wednesday lunchtime and on two Wednesday evenings each month there is something for everyone to get involved with.
Prayers for Healing
First Wednesday of the month
For over 20 years, members of the Carrs Lane congregation have met to offer prayers for healing. This tradition continues, with a group meeting on the first Wednesday of the month at 7.30pm in the 'Lounge'.
The prayers for healing respond to the daily, weekly and ongoing requests for prayer from the wider community. To find out more about the ministry of healing at Carrs Lane, go to the Healing Ministry page.
General Prayers
Third Wednesday of the month
Offering prayers for the wider world, this group meet and share in worship together once a month at 7.30pm. It is the sister group to Prayers for Healing, each complementing the other. All are welcome.
To leave a prayer request to be included in the prayers, please complete the form at the bottom of the Prayers page.
