DiscussionDiscussion Group | Forth in Faith | House Groups Our discussion groups are open and all are welcome. To find out more about any group, contact Carrs Lane's office to find out more. Discussion GroupMonthly on the first Thursday 10.15 This started life as a sermon study group, but now has a much wider brief. It is a small group, half a dozen or so Carrs Lane people. Here we have a chance to air ideas that generally seem to fall outside a traditional view of Christianity. We don't have any answers but are searching for understanding. We have taken as our focus books by Karen Armstrong, Gerard Hughes and John Campbell. At other times we have looked at the beliefs of other faiths. We have also followed up issues raised by the Carrs Lane Lectures on Radical Christian Faith. It is a very informal group, where everyone's view is given weight and value. Forth in FaithMonthly on the fourth Sunday 12.00 Forth in Faith takes place on the fourth Sunday of the month (hence its name!). It starts after morning worship and refreshments, and lasts for about an hour. Because of the convenience of a congregation which is scattered all over the city already being in the building, this time slot has often proved popular as an opportunity to share in an informal way, various aspects of life and faith. The meetings have sometimes taken the form of a short course of study discussing a series of questions, sometimes a single session on a wide range of topics which proved to be of interest. The discussions are facilitated by different people, and everyone has the opportunity to participate. House GroupsThere are currently two house groups; to find out more about either contact the office as above. Harborne House GroupMonthly on the second Tuesday 14.00 This is a monthly social gathering among Carrs Lane people who are living on the south west side of the city. We take it in turns to host the meeting in our own homes, at 2pm on the afternoon of the second Tuesday of the month. We begin the meeting with an introductory prayer, but its content is not specifically religious or spiritual. It consists of a semi-formal item - a talk, a video and occasionally a discussion or a quiz - followed by tea and biscuits. Sometimes an individual contribution from each member leads to an interesting variety of viewpoints on a particular theme. There is a strong sense of fellowship, and the sharing of thoughts and experiences over refreshments is much valued.
